Eleven Years a Texan and an Update
"You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas." —Davy Crockett
I’m seizing the occasion of an anniversary to give you a short update since posting has been sparser than I had planned or wanted it to be.
First things first: It’s been 11 awesome years since I’ve moved from New York (after emigrating from France) to Texas!
I explained why I love Texas so much in a commentary I wrote a few years ago, which you can read here, and, of course, Achievement, TX, is illustrative of why I am now a proud Texan (see the About page if you haven’t already).
And I enjoyed every second of these 11 years living in the Lone Star State—and what an amazing 11 years it has been!
Now for the update.
An article initially meant to be posted in late June will be posted this weekend. It will tell the unique story of oil-well firefighter Red Adair.
I don’t want to promise an immediate return to the weekly posting schedule I had first promised quite yet, but I still aim to get back to it soon. The lack of posts does not come from a lack of ideas or subjects to research. The research process has taken more time than I anticipated because 1) I want to have as much information as possible (or is available), 2) it has been fascinating, and 3) sometimes life happens!
So, here’s to sending you more captivating stories of the achievements of several generations of Texans in the months to come!
Thank you for your renewed patience! ❤️ ⭐
When I moved to Texas four years ago, I posted that same Davy Crockett quote on my Facebook page to let everyone know about my move. I am happy I came here.
I hadn't read An Immigrant’s Hymn to Texas: My “Little America” before. What a wonderful commentary, Carine. I'm looking forward to reading more.
